Stump Bear

I shot the stump bear through the snow
if it had been a bear I would have killed it
I was so sure
but it was just a stump when I approached
thankful it was not a man
these are the lessons of reality
we let pass so quickly out of fear
that we may know the the fool within
simple mistakes of visions fallibility
touching fears within our souls that
things are not always what they seem
and we see bears when ere we look
with certain eyes at shadows in the snow.
