wonder why
he abandoned us
his buddy took up with mom
(another loser)
both of them are dead
but my old man lingers
alcohol preserves some
30 years since we met
my sisters ask
“do you still hate him?”
“no“ i reply
“hate needs love to burn
& i’m frozen”
