greenings and vegetations
d. j. popovich
Things really aren't that profound.
Hang around with a gardener. They plant, they water. They water some more. Touching is big. True gardeners touch their crops every day. Did you get that?
Watch where you walk. Choose your way. This is not rocket science, but you can still mess up.
Know when to go in. Stay out late if your looking for slugs. Slugs love beer but only in short tin cans buried to the rim.
Periodically wash everything with soap.
Weeding is a therapeutic activity, as is dead-heading. Just when you think the head is almost dead, pull it off. Timing counts for a lot here. You'll end up looking really stupid if you pull it off too soon. Sound familiar?
If you think about the garden it will grow.
Sometimes the things you don't do are more important than the things you do do. This is only true if you know what not to do.
So what's the point? You can
a) find a gardener to, well, you know
b) invest in insecticides
c) find a cool patch of bluegrass and wallow in it
d) eat something green. (Careful with this one.)
