FIRST SNOW

Where once
the muted rainbows
of shingled roofs
jutted into sky,
“old town”
now sparkles,
a color-coordinated
white.
Where once
tots rollicked
through dusky yards,
they now roll snowmen,
sweep snow angels,
and utterly delight
in December’s
heaven sent
white.
