Conquered in the Cold War,
invading Russian emigres
are homesteading Brooklyn,
and usurping the “wealthy” natives.
So why is it
I only want to do the opposite
and flee to that former mythic Eden,
to that Christian-Atheist country
where ostensibly
the most important thing
about being human
was being human,
where ideally everyone contributed
according to their abilities
and received
according to their needs?
Venal nations die easy,
old values die hard!
