It wasn’t meant this way
You weren’t meant to steal my heart
I could have told you any day
Soon we would part
The romantic inside
Conceited the same to me
Yet why
Can I not resist
Knowing you’re mine to be
You knew so as I
Of our shared affinity
Oh the exigency eluded me
Of your real place in my heart
God gave me a gift to love
And the fear to hide inside
Yet somehow I do not flinch
The realization finally cometh
It hit me when I searched to see
Who indeed
Loved me.
