Subtle Reunion

By Peter Scott

I wish to sing a ballad
All in your name
I long for your kiss
As I dread its departure
Life has played
A cruel card to me
Slighting your presence
While the shadow remains
While the kiss lives on
While the voice sulks about
Most of all
Those eyes are still there
Staring at me
Daring a first step
In the destruction of belief
Weak is self-restraint
Gone is public display
It bowed to the crowd long ago
Why is it so?
Ought we sit together
Find out
True emotions parading along
Among false feelings felt
We should hold one another
Lie in the same place
Eat as a pair
One in thought
But are you thinking of me?
Two thirty since the noon
Might there be a connection?
Galloping beside you
Striving for the fabric
No different than your own
No different than yesterday or before
A time once present
When it was for you
It is only a ribbon
Sit next to me
I am only a boy
With a little luck
Guts to make life easy
Bound in torment
Oh how you calm my pain
Please understand
I speak all so public
Open to only you
Should this message
Pass right through
Not to be sappy
I think I will cry
For eternally alone would I be
Trapped in the dark
Dormant and alone
Only seconds away...
If the chance arose...
Your kiss so special
This second in time
I gaze at your picture
Floundering around
My salvation
During periods of loss
Imbue your love in my temple
Send me a kiss
Plant the seeds in rear
Of my gift that is blessed
Return it someday
I wait eagerly
Swinging far&fast.
