Sitting at the old vanity, her feet
dangle off the chair.
Mommy is gone...time to play.
She picks up the mysterious red
lipstick...the one that
always stains daddy’s cheek.
She puts on the lipstick and kisses
her hand just to see
the stain from her lips.
She picks up the silver brush...
the one mommy always uses
to make her long hair glow.
She carefully brushes her shoulder
length hair slowly,
hoping she’ll look like mommy.
She picks up the perfume bottle...
the one mommy loves so much...
the one daddy buys for her.
As she sprays it on herself daddy
walks in...he looks at her lips,
her hair, and smells her.
He says she looks as pretty as mommy
and she leans over and gives him
a kiss on the cheek and stains it with
mommy’s lipstick.
