The hearts, daisies and dog

The purple hearts dance freely
through the air, softly floating
towards the ground.

A few land on the yellow daisies
that innocently close their petals
and swallow the hearts whole.

The sound of a muffled dog whining
can be heard. The dog searches
aimlessly for its owner and then
gives up and sits among the daisies.

The daisies sniff at the dog to
determine who's invading their
territory. They begin to pull at his
tail as a child might to make him leave.
But the dog is content with
the attention he is receiving.

The hearts glow red from the sun
setting. They appear as if they
are on fire, burning the
petals of the daisies.

The dog begins to wake from his
day dreaming and realizes, no owner,
no food'so he eats a daisy.
Yuck, he spits it out'must go
hungry.
