I hadn’t expected so
much blood
and she hadn’t expected
so much blood
and I think it shocked
us for a moment or 2
and there came a
strange quietness
between us as we
looked at the
blood splattered
sheets and then we
held one another
to make it feel right;
her mother asleep in
the next room and
outside we could
hear the yelping
of young
urban foxes.
