John Sweet

had the dogs on leashes
& had the women

drove 400,000 miles w/ no
heater and no headlights

spent two weeks working w/ the guy,
but this was before he killed
someone in a bar fight

this was when i could still
remember what 20 felt like

knew this girl who was 16
but, when the cops called,
i hadn’t seen her in weeks

when her stepfather called, i
tried to tell him about cobain’s suicide

i tried to tell him there wasn’t
enough time

could only make these small
frightened noises that
no one else was able to hear
