The story, as it was told to me

John Sweet

Says Lift those tiny islands.

Says Dream the gift concealed.

Simple requests from the lips
of Conquistadors, and so the room is
small, is quiet, is filled with dust
and sunlight.

The killer has taken his place.

Waits behind the door,
and the woman is his wife.

The islands are his children.

No one leaves
until all of us are dead.
