As the sun slowly
Out stretched his arms
to cast a lack of shadow
all over the landscape
I am struggling to
remain alert.
No amount of black
coffee or chain smoked
cigarettes seems enough
to yank my eyelids
open just a little wider,
to shake me alive
and as wild as it takes
to approach getting
anything else done
today other than
sitting by idle
and watching the
gentle picture show
that is the world just
outside my window.
