ABU GHRAIB

Gregory Liffick

No remorse
in the voices
of the prosecuted
young American
military guards.
No batting
of the eyes.
Just following orders.
Another day
on the job
torturing prisoners.
Where have we
heard that before?
At least the Nazis
had the nerve to be indignant
about being tried.
These desensitized,
empty faced soldiers
can’t even muster that feeling.
