The Joys and Sorrows of Motherhood
Lisa Katherine Hughes
A Precious Life devoted to the happiness of others
A Heart shared with all in need
A Smile that brightened the brightest star
Her voice led us in the pursuit of happiness
taught us the diffrence 'tween right and wrong
guided us through storm and calm
lifted us in time of sorrow
blessed us in her nightly pleas.
She defended us with her honest words.
She told us she loved us with her sweet touch.
That Morning passed with easy summer warmth,
and suddenly, the sky was cold.
My Mother, so dear, could never warm my day again.
Her body would never mold itself to mine in comfort,
would never stand upright in the crowds.
Her hand would never lead me onward.
And so, I look.
