Bottomless Pit
Dave Oakes
I am walking through a drifting fog
Which follows me everywhere I go
I am swallowed up by emptiness
And all that I am is what I know.
I stumble and fall down the deepest well
Forever falling, I just can’t stop
Deeper into the blackness of the pit
Knowing I’ll never again see the top.
Fear and terror, loneliness and regrets
All the feelings that one can possess
Pour forth like an eternal fountain
No matter what beliefs I profess.
The pit must have no bottom
Blackness leads forever to twists and turns
Never quite sure which way it will break
But always knowing that I cannot return.
