How Much of a Man
Dave Oakes
How much of a man am I
When I must hit those weaker than me
Because they didn’t move fast enough
Or I just happened to not quite see.
How much of a man am I
When my family goes hungry and cold
Because I am just too lazy to work
And a bottle of whiskey my hands hold.
How much of a man am I
When I give up because the going is tough
Maybe I got a few bad breaks on the way
But should I quit just because it is rough.
How much of a man am I
When the most important person in my life is me
I certainly care about my family and friends
But, in danger I couldn’t protect them, I’d flee.
Most importantly perhaps of all I may ask
Is how much of a man am I
If each time when I look in the mirror I see
Someone who has lost their soul and reason to be.
