Lady in Blue
Dave Oakes
Inspired by the thought of you
Warmed when you’re in my sight
Few have had this affect on me
I don’t know if it’s wrong or right
Sunshine could never be brighter
Nor sunsets as lovely as you
Like pure poetry in motion
Is that lady in the blue
Soft and gentle on the outside
Vulnerable and afraid within
Sometimes in need of comforting words
But unsure of how to begin
And even with all her frailty
Her heart as good as gold
She leaves me with a treasure
That I shall forever hold
She has opened up my heart once more
To the pleasures of the word
And eased the worry I often felt
That my poems might be heard
For that I am forever grateful
And whatever I can I will do
For she’s a truly special lady
That lady in the blue
