Walls
Dave Oakes
Walls are all around me
Everywhere I look
You can’t very often see them
They are very much like a crook.
Breaking your spirit
And stealing your hope
Hoping to crush you
Giving you the rope.
You feel cheap and used
Every time you hit the wall
Just want to be left alone
To curl up into a ball.
Until one day it hits you
There is only one way to survive
Grab a sledge hammer and bust that wall
Before you become buried alive.
Tear down every wall you can find
They trap not only you but the rest
Fight for everyone’s right to be free
Or go down giving your best.
If you know anyone anywhere
Is trapped by the wall
Remember we’re all trapped if one is
And don’t hesitate to answer the call.
