Who Thinks for Me

Dave Oakes

Why must we be restricted
To a single belief in what is right
Weren’t we all given the gift of thought
Giving us so much powerful might.
Was that just a error that was made
Instead of giving us resistors and tubes
Were we just to be mindless robots
Following orders like mindless boobs.
I don’t believe we were ever meant to be
Crushed into the reality others have made
There are certain things most can agree on
Rules against murder and rape can be laid.
But so few of us get to help choose the rest
Yet we all are expected to play by the rules
And when we dare try to stand against them
They try to stop us and have plenty of tools.
When will we throw off the shackles we wear
What does it take to strike back for our rights
Who are the leaders who will fight for us all
Why must we hide our thoughts in the nights.
Society believes we are a perverted mass
With no business living as we wish to be
We can no longer bow to their idiotic rules
We must stand up and fight to be free.
