Wish upon the Star
Dave Oakes
Oh, to wish upon the rising star
To wish that it could know your heart
Never sure how to say what you feel
Having a hard time even getting to start.
How can one expect the star to ever know
When the stars are all so very far way
Having to roam and float through the skies
Working hard, with no time for them to play.
Perhaps we ask too much when we wish upon the star
For a great burden do we then place upon it
Wanting for it to grant us all our dreams so far
Then blaming it if we miss and fall into the pit.
But, I can never give up on asking the star
To help me make it through each and every day
That I believe in it always no matter how far
And will always feel in my hear what is so hard to say.
