I Miss You
Beth Gibson
I miss
I miss the days of secrets shared
The easy chats
The quiet talks we had
I miss the birthday cards we send
Those long phone calls that knew no end
When we were friends
I laugh
I laugh at the distant Barbie dolls
The nonsense rhymes
And the Nancy Drew
What happened to our childhood plans
The lemonade and popcorn stands
We had before we grew apart?
I sigh
I sigh at the thought of other ages
At friendships left on journal pages
What happened to those best of friends
Our life-styles changed
We met an end
A distant silence time has brought
I seldom give you any thought
But, yet sometimes I miss you so much
And wish we had kept in touch.
