Dressed in White

Kevin Calaguiro

With a view from my balcony
I see all that is a life
All of the little kids cry
They're in the shopping cart
At the Wal-Mart
While their mothers are in the fitting room
Trying on some pretty thing
For their husbands
For themselves

In a blue sky
Wonders of unicorns dance through the clouds
With socks and glasses hanging
Around their jelly bean sandals
I am at the truth here

It is a calling card of events
To get in touch with parents, or sisters
Or God
After lots has fallen
After hate dressed in white
Settles over a city
All is in every little hole
And it is called a tragedy
An act of terrorism
A day of attack
A city dressed in white
A nation dressed in strife

It is a landslide of events
To get in touch with the dairy farmer
That lived up the street
And the nurse who gave me Popsicles
And the woman who was here decades back
It was a boom time then
It is a boom time now
I was dressed in white
It was called a blessing
A baby dressed in white
A family dressed in joy
