every quarter

kitchen table

watched as the gold Oldsmobile
was repossessed
leaving us stranded in
the desert west of Las Cruces
in a trailer
with no electricity
rent unpaid and
a landlord who threatened
to shoot us
tonight
don't think I

up
my peacock feather
