Marie Kazalia was born in Toledo, Ohio and has lived her adult life primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area with the exception of 4 expatriate years in Japan, India, and Hong Kong. She has a BFA degree from California College of Arts and Crafts. Marie Kazalia has appeared as featured reader at Diane di Prima’s reading series held at the Bird&Beckett Bookstore in San Francisco, Marie Kazalia read her poetry at the ATA in San Francisco with John Cassady(son of Beat legends Neal Cassady&Caroline Cassady) playing backup on electric guitar, Marie Kazalia appeared as featured the 3300Club in San Francisco and the Enrico’s Restaurant Poetry Reading series in North Beach in San Francisco also the 418 Project in Santa Cruz and as featured reader at Pegasus Bookstore in Berkeley, as well making audio appearances in Joseph Verrilli’s audio SHOES zine and others... She has been guest poet on J. P. Dancing Bear’s KKUP radio show, and on the Internet Radio series and in a weekly one hour show featuring Marie Kazalia reading from her Hong Kong novel, titled: Minden Row, at Luver Radio in Berkeley and she has performed live in the Luver Radio live performance series on the University of California at Berkeley campus in 2003. Marie Kazalia is also Producer of her own cable TV poets series called *Sound Sight* on Channel 29 in San Francisco, and has her own poets interview series at called Marie Kazalia’s Underground Stream, at http://www.legionstudios.com/
