snow first
then it was winter in the city
there was nothing
nobody to draw from
everybody was subterranean
buried beneath the gaslights
it was all like a strange storybook
this was a winter with no matches
and survival was not denied the girls in the hangouts
everybody was gone behind locked doors
watching the girls walk
watching sadly until early morning in the dark
I was a cold whisper
real alone
hung on gaslights for warmth
