Biographical Note: Julie Kate Howard is the author of Elegy in Pieces (Nightshade Press) and Wind Shifts (Placebo Press). Her poetry and short fiction have appeared in over one hundred magazines, and she has work forthcoming in Crazy Horse, North Carolina Literary Review, and Tar River Poetry, among others. Howard lives in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and teaches writing at the North Carolina Folkschool at Brasstown.
