Say It In The First Place

I’ve been told many things
in my lifetime

I’ve been told a lot of things
about myself, too

some are good things, same are bad
and I’m getting used

to hearing all the comments.
But when a

stranger tells you every day
that you’re well,

beautiful, don’t you think
that there’s a

line being crossed? This is one
of the things

I think about. Why are you telling
me this? How is this

supposed to make me feel? Do I
even know you?

What are you supposed to say to some
stranger when

they compliment you daily. Do you
ignore them?

Do you hope it will go away?
Maybe it won’t.

Maybe you should just
compliment them

back, maybe then they’ll
realize how silly

it was to even say it in the
first place.
