Even Though I Didn’t See It

in this mobile home park
and I was told that for days
the flag at the base of the park here
was at half mast
for my mother’s death
the flag was back up
lowered like that
for someone in the military
or some high-ranking government official
but
even though it was only for days
and even though I didn’t see it
