untitled, Father’s Day

they say the favorite Father’s Day present
is a tie
& I don’t think I’ve seen my dad wear a suit tie
in all my life

he likes building with wood
so off to Home Depot
for his gift certificate

his little toy store

I heard one father actually got
Home Depot pajamas
for Father’s Day

I don’t know what my dad wears to sleep
& the only time I see him in a tie
is in a wedding tuxedo bow tie

be usually takes the bow tie off
as soon as he can
when he’s the father of the bride

but it stayed on all night
at my wedding

we even made a six-pack of 5700 beer
for dad for our 5/07/00 wedding,
but he prefers simpler beers

and makes fun of my drinking Yuengling beer
by calling it “ting-a-ling”
and drinks from his case of Bud Light

so yeah, come Father’s Day
I’m not getting my Indian chief father
a tie, or even Home Depot pajamas
