IPB: Impromptu Poetry on the Beach
Beach Poets Wednesday, June 29th 2011 (6/29/11)
Janet Kuypers was a scheduled feature at Beach Poets at Loyola Beach in Chicago (Greenleaf and the lake, just east of Sheridan Road and 4 blocks north of the Loyola el stop, near Heartland Cafe), hosted by Cathleen Schandelmeier and Peter Bartels, on Sunday, July 3rd 2011, but the Reader newspaper placed the date for the Kuypers feature in the newspapers as Wednesday, June 29th 2011. Because Beach Poets does not like to leave people who see a misprint in the Reader high and dry with no poetry on the beach, Peter Bartels (one of the hosts of Beach Poets) set up shop at Loyola Beach in Chicago for Janet to put on an impromptu additional Beach Poets feature.
The poems chosen for this “Impromptu Poetry on the Beach” were entirely different from the poems she read in her July 3rd 2011 show (which had music from both John Yotko and Cousin Bones, and ended with a song), so check out the chapbook and the video links below from this live beach performance!.
