the 2012 Poetry Bomb (poetry with the Chicago “L” train)

    the 2012 Poetry Bomb (this outdoor day of taking poetry to the streets, sponsored by the folks at Waiting 4 the Bus) was slated for performances on Aprl 29th 2012. Although some people read at the Millennium Bean in downtown Chicago, Janet Kuypers (after a suggestion from John) decided to read poetry on the Chicago “L” train (starting on the Ravenswood line/the Brown line, traveling south toward the loop from the Irving Park stop).
    After readng one poem at the Irving Park stop and taking the train to the Addison stop, Kuypers started to read again, when she was stopped by a worker for the CTABecause of heightened security because of the upcoming NATO convention in Chicago, filming ithout authorization from the central offices had to stop...
    Knowing there was no time to get the permission, other than what little reading was already done, all other poetry readings had to take place just outside of Chicago “L” train stops (near the stairs to the “L” train, or underneath tracks).
    Then (of course) it started to lightly rain, so performances were cut short. Although Kuypers slated 12 never-read-before poems for live readings on this day, she only got to read 5 poems, but she was pleased she got the chance to read these five Periodic Table of Poetry (where she hopefully plans to write poetry for all of the elements, to possibly appear in a later book release).
    To coincide with the reading of these new and never-before-read poems, Kuypers also released through cc&d magazine at Scars Publications a free downloadable PDF file chapbook of Poetry on the “L” train for anyone to read.
