“Poe-Pourri” was a 2013 Halloween show in Chicago (hosted by Dave Gecic an Jeff Helgeson), where there were chosen poetry readers and actors in assorted short spooky plays. Janet Kuypers was asked to perform the role of a hysterically laughing woman (no speaking role, just an emotional role — perfect for Kuypers) in the re-enactment of the Chicago radio show “LIGHTS OUT: THE DARK”.
Before the play performances, Kuypers was brought center stage to perform an edited version of her Periodic Table of Poetry poem Hydrogen Cyanide, and after the open mic evening, as the last performance of the night at Calway Arms, Kuypers was called onto stage again to end the night with her poem reading from memory of Death Takes Many Forms.
Follow the links below to see the videos of the radio play (on performed after the cast had only just met each other that evening at the venue), as well as her Periodic Table of Poetry poem Hydrogen Cyanide and her classic poem Death Takes Many Forms in “Poe-Pourri”.
