A SEASONAL DILEMMA

Sarah Marguerite Dean

Whenever it is summer
And all the world is hot
I thought that I’d be happy
Then find that I am not.

I long to tread on leaves
Left by the days of fall.
But when those days come ’round
I’m not content at all.

I wish for snowy weather
With nog and warn fireside
But once it comes along
I find I can’t abide.

I look out of my window
And heave a weary sigh
The weather is so boring
I wish that I could die!

The barren trees look eerie
Those boughs without their green
So I turn with optimism
To happy thoughts of spring.

When spring comes ‘round again next year
I promise to delight
To thrill to see the miracle
Of life’s eternal fight.
