I have a full tank, cigarettes, Carmex, a large double-double and The Hip.
I speed east, sunroof open, stoned on rainbows in rock cuts.
I sing and smoke, laugh and cry, hiccup and grin Ð finally Ð at the drama.
IÕd fallen so hard for an illusion, and, as lakes flicker past behind gnarled pines,
I begin the long trip home and Gord sings ÒBobcaygeon.Ó

Lawnchaired, side by side we gaze flameward, each lost in thought.
I feed pitchy cones that Snap! and send sparks shooting upwards
breathing deeply, tasting: pinesap, smoke, OFF, sunscreen & lake
I look up past Hokusai silhouettes of giant pines and SEE
all this time, staring into our campfire, there have been stars
While I sip my beer, weÕve been hurtling around the sun.
Our jaunty little campfire, blazing away in one of countless galaxies.
Finally, with some effort, I look back at the mosquito bite on my big toe.

Parched and cloudy from an eternity of abuse
Mornings are frosty and dark, the windshield needs scraping, and every time
I wash the winter coats, we get blizzarded.Spring is definitely a tease.
Taunting with the occasional sunny afternoon,
Flirting with warm breezes, then turning a cold shoulder.Soakers and chills, tracked mud and dirty socks
The resignation dawning that winter will never end.
