The Poetry Machine
Alan C. Reese
Stand back my children
For I am
A turbo powered
Air compressed
Electronically fuel injected
Image making
Metaphor machine
Encased in a suit of Irony
With India ink fuel
Powering a dual rhetorical
Discourse drive
And I just might
Sear your eyes
And brains
When I take off.

A New World
Alan C. Reese
I would drown the world
Just to be your Noah
And I would sail ten thousand days
Through dark nights and darker days
To search for you and start Time again.
Each day with nothing in sight
But the sea, I would send a dove
To search for your safe harbor,
And once I found you,
I would build a new world
And leave there never.

The Papers Said An Historic Meeting of
Yesterday and Tomorrow Took Place
Today in the Town of Allegory Near War Torn...
Alan C. Reese
In this city of synchronicity,
Nuclear holocaust trees bloom
Where the snaking sidewalk
Leads to the black doorways
In the concrete bunker,
And the thrumming drone
Overhead is a zeppelin
Embarking on a preordained mission
In a sky of clouds already growing darker.
