Clear Lake

I ask you to take a picture of me now,
with my sunhat on.
Follow me out to the dock.
I want to remember today,
my blue and white-striped shirt,
my skirt flowing over my hips,
mid-thighs bare.
I want to remember these clothes,
this water, this breeze coming off the lake.
The feel of the muddy sand under my feet.
The current parting around my calves.
The green tint to the water, close up,
over champagne sand.
The fade to blue.
I want to remember being 25, here,
my body youthful and confident.
My family just inside the door of the cabin.
My love in front of me grinning,
snapping picture after picture of me wading in the lake.
I want to get it right.
