(you know I am keeping
that in savings for you).
You are interviewing

to get into programs
to help you get into college
or on a career path
and each weekend
show up early to Chipotle,
learning patois on the
job to chat with the Haitians
who work in the kitchen with you.
your girlfriend just got
her EMT license

and has stuck by you.

Still, each time
a gang shooting or drug arrest
is reported, I scan
the Boston Globe for your name.
