Validate Their Every Lie
Janet Kuypers
Started 9/12, ended 9/25/25
I had to believe there was an actual name for this syndrome,
Pathological lying, since everyone wants to validate their every
Issue as a genuine condition — pamper their egos and give it a
Name...
“Pseudologia fantastica.” It sounds so much cooler when it’s in
Latin... The pathological liar habitually lies about themselves &anp;
Others. And sure, at times we may stretch the truth to make us
Better—
We always want everyone to see us at the best we imagine our-
Selves to be, but we try to not take it to an extreme, we’re not
Narcissistic*, it’s not like we’re antisocial** or anything, repeatedly
Lying
To manipulate, and avoid responsibility. We know there’s only so
Much fantasy we can get away with. We know better. I mean, if
We always lied and thought this was real, people’d think we were
Crazy.

Donald Trump, in term 1 and between his terms as U.S. president,
Made tens of thousands of lies — wait, I can’t use that word, say
“False or misleading claims.” Both print and television companies
Catalogued
An average of 21 “false or misleading claims” every day in his first
Term. Between terms, until about a year before serious campaigning,
Sources say he lied (I mean, made “false or misleading claims”)
Only
Six times per day, on average. Now, I can’t find records on Trump’s
“Mis-direction” in his second term, but I did hear that NPR found
162 lies and distortions in one August 2024 Donald Trump news
Conference.
That’s a lot higher than his first-term lying, I mean, misleading...
And the thing is, I thought our parents taught us not to lie, to not
Over-exaggerate, to accept responsibility and to not shift blame.
But why bother
When one man, voted to lead this once-free home of the quote-
Unquote brave, can tell the President of Ukraine that Ukraine
Started the Russia war, that only began after Russia attacked
Ukraine.
Who needs to worry about the truth, when the leader of the U.S.
Can say whatever he wants, and cataloguing his errors is utterly
Ignored. He’s lied about family being from other countries. He’s
Lied
About his relative’s schooling and teaching the Unabomber. He’s
Lied about the size of his inaugural crowd. He’s lied about voter
Fraud in the election he legally lost. He’s even lied repeatedly on
Global warming.
—
Trump even instructed his White House press secretary with this
Method of lying: “As long as you keep repeating something, it
Doesn’t matter what you say,” giving lies the illusory truth effect***,
Making the masses
Believe false information**** to be correct after repeated exposure
To his lies (oh, I’m sorry, his “false or misleading claims”). Because,
It’s one thing for me to go around lying, living in my own little
Fantasy world
(and I don’t even think I could believe my own lies...). But, I mean,
This is the president of the United States. I thought they should
Be held to a higher standard, and not end up manipulating the masses
Instead.

In the journalism world, you’re supposed be play the role of the
Bystander, the observer, the reporter, because “just the facts” is the
Edict, the mantra used to get to the truth. Now, placing a
Blindfold
Over your eyes may be the iconic image we see for justice — stay
Blind to the minutia to uncover the fallacies in the details, but don’t
take sides. ...But it’s hard not to take sides when the entertainer-in-
Chief,
The leader of this once-free world, is spearheading not the art of the
Deal but the art of the lie. ‘I’ll end the Ukraine war within 24 hours.’*****
‘I ended seven “unendable” wars during my 2nd term in office.’ (btw,
Both lies.)
So it’s hard not to take sides, not only when you believe in the truth,
But when these lies are costing so many lives across the globe —
And it’s like everyone else out here is wearing that blindfold, and
Justice
Is nowhere to be found.
