poetry readings from the book release on November 9th, 2007

Hokin Gallery celebrated a collection book release called Word Curves from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9th, 2007 (with an open mike sign up 5:30, at 623 S. Wabash, at the gallery in the South Loop’s Columbia College). Kuypers was a special guest performance that started off the open mic with three poems. Donna Pecore worked with this collection book, so after appearing together in the two-night October show A Foot Fantasia, appearing at this book release seemed the natural thing for Kuypers to do. Listen to poetry and watch videos from this Friday night art gallery collection book release below.

Before the show started, Kuypers distributed print copies of the free chapbook the Turn of the Word, which comtained the three poems she was reading, plus two bonus poems.

Kuypers at Hokin Gallery This was the main poem chosen for this performance. When asked to read something that will inspire people, True Happiness in the New Millennium is the first poem that came to mind.

Kuypers at Hokin Gallery This poem is seldom read, though it is a strong piece. This seems to be the perfect place to intruduce reading More Than We Should Have.

Kuypers at Hokin Gallery This poem was the last piece chosen for this reading. Although it has been recorded with The DMJ Art Connection and performed live at Conflict•Contact•Control on 04/01/05, White Knuckled is a strong piece to close the evening with.
