“Nerves of a Poet”
at Café Ballou with Café Cabaret

    Janet Kuypers was highlighted 11/21/14 with a feature poetry reading through Café Cabaret at Cafe Ballou (939 N. Western Ave. in Chicago). Her slated selections of poetry included all brand-new and many never before read poems (all quite emotional, relating to current topics like the Ebola virus, of the death of family members), interspersed with haiku poems Kuypers has never read before (all from her recent collection book Partial Nudity, that all also appear in her 2014 mini-book 100 Haikus).
    Janet Kuypers is planning to release haiku poem readings in a future poetry vine (which released videos to mobile devices that are 6 seconds long and can remain looping; for this Kuypers decided to create the “JK Poetry Vine”).
    Because the first poem in this feature is something she performed in her most recent live performance with the HA!Man of South Africa (when he came to Chicago 10/7/14 for an improvisation night of music and performance art), the music behind all of her poetry readings in this show is from that live music from the HA!Man of South Africa.
    Janet Kuypers is excited to showcase new highly-charged emotional poems (a break fro her recent venture into writing poems for every element in the Periodic Table, with the Periodic Table of Poetry), which she intending to release in a future book (publication date currently unknown) titled “Pheromemes” (based on the idea of being “attracted” to Janet Kuypers’ ideas)

    Janet Kuypers also released a chapbook (in print to distribute for free at the event, and as a free PDF file download) of all of the poems performed live at this show.
