in Expressions! Presents “Peace Poetry, Please” Janet Kuypers’ 8/5/17 poetry show with music “Finding Peace” Below are video links and poem text links from a August 5th 2017 (8/5/17, or 20170805) poetry performance of Janet Kuypers’ Austin poetry feature through Expressions! Presents “Peace Poetry, Please” at Austin’s the Bahá’í Center (at 2215 E M Franklin Ave, Austin, TX 78723), accompanied by her recorded sounds of crickets chirping, which accompanied music of The HA!Man of South Africa’s “Wayward Waltz of the Skewed Mind”. In this show, Janet Kuypers’ decided to tackle different people think of the word peace, as highlighted in her first (and very new) poem “Protecting Peace can Put you in Prison”), about how even Nobel peace laureates and be imprisoned for peaceful intentions and killed. She then switched gears by sharing poems about the deaths of each of her parents, and how some may need to look for peace to “Really Physically Heal” from illness, or how people look for peace by “Keeping the Peace and Coming to Peace”. For her final poem, she had to once again share the vegetarian-themed poem she used as the final poem in the previous year’s peace-themed show there, “On a High Horse Like This”, read while she remained in the lotus position to relax at the end of her show. Before the show started she also released copies to people there of a Scars Publications cc&d bonus release chapbook of the writings she was performing in her show (in the order they were performed). All of the pieces from this evening’s reading were also released electronically in an online “Finding Peace” chapbook, which you can download as a PDF file for free any time. Based on the YouTube Playlist, there are also two additional web page listings for the videos from this show — one is at Scars Video (at www.artvilla.com/scars), and the other is from the main listing at artvilla. --> After the “Finding Peace” performance, Janet Kuypers later also appeared on stage to read one poems from her new book release, “(pheromemes) 2015-2017 poems”, with “Vanishing Scars” (started originally as an homage to Scars Publications, but a piece that says that no matter what you go through, you are a white beaming ligh, almost too bright for anyone to fully take in).
