    Chicago poet and Austin resident Janet Kuypers returned to Chicago for a week in September the week following her attendance of the Chicago 2018 Laver Cup tennis tournament. During her stay she was honored with the opportunity to guest host the open mic she rand for over half of a decade in Chicago (then titled “the Café Gallery” at the Gallery Cabaret) as well as perform her feature show “Life and Death and Everything Between” for Poetry at The Gallery Cabaret (2020 N. Oakley Ave. in Chicago - one block east of Western Avenue and one block north of Armitage) Tuesday, September 25^th 2018.

    Because Janet Kuypers knew she was coming back to Chicago for only one week, Janet Kuypers was thrilled that Scars Publications was able to release the a number of new books of hers, of not only new poetry but also of past poetry in past issues of cc&d magazine, we well as poetry from past Chicago (and Austin) performance art show poetry. The first books include the 8½" square full-color full-bleed Janet Kuypers photography book “Antarctica: Earth’s Final Frontier” and the 8½" square full-color full-bleed Janet Kuypers photography (+ select Antarctica poems) book “Antarctica: Wildlife” of animals in 7 locations, both photographed from the 1st 2017 passenger ship to the 7th continent. Additional book releases include interview/journal/poetry book “In Depth”, the cc&d boss lady v5 collection book “On the Edge”, the poetry performance art collection book “Chapter 48 (v1)” covering poetry shows and readings from 2009-201, and the poetry performance art collection book “Chapter 48 (v2)” covering poetry shows and readings from 2011-2018.

    Because she is no longer living in Chicago and was in town for only the one week, she also interjected her short (-length, Instagram poems and haiku) poems between all open mic poets, since she also guest-hosted the open mic for the evening. (All of the mini-poems she read during the open mic are also poems that will eventually be a part of book #3 from her “pheromemes” book series, titled “(pheromemes) haiku, twitterverse & poetry”.)
