sorcerers and shamans flicker at eye-edges
charlatans leak through the filters, fool
the flock
seers wander in
from the wilds now and again
only to be ignored
or shouted down

towering, ornate apparatus
of the fickle Future teeters
shakes
seems seconds away from
breaking apart
but then doesn’t
settles instead
straightens
holds intact

he
lurches
forward
come flood feast or lacerations careening
across the fractured corrugated landscape air
of flotsam the overflowing slop-canals and
he’s talking talking expecting his voice any
moment to intone high cadences of the
sublime but all that ever comes out is futility
meaningless garbage
