thoughts float inward like dust settling
on antique furniture once stately
now decrepit neglected furnishings
haunting forgotten rooms

memory is not so easy

they whisper in the dark
scant shadows treading over musty carpet
mumbling in half remembered tones
the doctor says its worsening

memory is not so easy

the iron nearly caused a fire
Debora was that her name
came by today or yesterday
nothing from the store to feed her

memory is not so easy

this room is not the right one
was it here before
the shadows skitter away
mumbling something

memory is not so easy
