Origin of Saptarishi

Ardra Manral

Saptarishi can be called a raw form of Narak. If you strip Narak to its very bare form, you get Saptarishi. It can’t be called a complete waste of land and space because it is quite advanced in terms of intelligence and literacy rate but it can’t exactly be called a good comfort area as well. Now, what is the story behind such a land and its people? Well, it all started with some myths and four outsiders.
Let’s go back to an era where time and space did not exist. Varad asked Andheri what she wanted. What she envisioned for a universe. All she said was, ‘I cannot tell you what I envision for a whole universe but I can tell you what I want for an individual world. Narak has all the components of all types of evil and corruption and I want a world which shall be just like it, but leaning more towards the materialistic side of evil. A world that first occurs in one’s mind when they would think of Hell.’
This is said to be the mythological version of Saptarishi’s existence. Other say it’s the corrupted opposite of Earth in a parallel universe.
Saptarishi was a wasteland where no life could thrive until the four outsiders came in. They wanted to take over the lands of Narak and massacred the natives who wouldn’t agree to their rule. To escape from the tyranny of the four outsiders, many natives surrendered and others ran off to Saptarishi. [Side Note: These four were able to change Narak for the good.] This is why many Saptas and Asuras look similar. Saptas were able to adapt to the harsh climate of Saptarishi and were able to make it habitable.
There are many legends and mythological theories surrounding it, like the ruler of Saptarishi is said to be the son of Andheri and Varad or an Avatar of them. Though this remains a theory, it still is a supposed mystery to unravel.
