Dad was mostly an idea.
Weekly, he came and went.
I saw him disappear
down the hill,
fading into a blurred vision
of hot energy.
I buttoned the scattered days
into measured form
and waited for his return.
Dad supposed, suggested, hypothesized.
He floated pale thought
into dim corners
and left a wide swath of blank days
pierced with streaks
of shining idea.
