Searching for Coins

A dollar bill picked up in the parking lot,
from underneath a car.

A half dollar found beneath a vending machine,
right before a customer can order a Coca Cola.

A penny picked up near a land line of a bus stop,
right before a bus driver can make a call.

A nickel found under a man’s seat,
right before the bus’ doors closed.

A dime quickly felt in a pocket.

A quarter found on the street,
right before bus 50 arrived at its stop.

If this homeless man keeps up this search,
he will finally ride the bus,
be safe from the sun,
and escape from being a ghost.
