The spasm will not come again.
The cardsharp’s hands have all been played.

The endless tasks that were my bane,
The paths not walked, the plans unmade,

My winding down will break the chain
Of mounting debts that can’t be paid.

No more hobbling with the cane.
No more helplessness displayed.

No hope, no fear, no thoughts arrayed.
