I watch here,
unblinking in this place
devoid of light or darkness.
All I see now are memories-
trees, grass, sky, faces, city streets,
clouds, colors.
I am afraid,
afraid to move or touch,
to speak, even listen.
Afraid that if I do,
other senses will disappear and be gone
leaving me in this place
where light does not speak,
darkness does not listen,
the scents of places known
no longer linger,
and colors become as untouchable
as a memory.
